How to feel old.
Someone did me the favour of telling me I have been supporting West Ham for over half its existence.

(It's not strictly true, as I wasn't born supporting them, but it soon will be)

You have the honour of being the first person I have ever said this to:

“I wasn’t even born then”

Just.

Come On Eileen and WW2 is one thing, and I can relate to that, but there's some on here who won't enjoy hearing that.........

Sgt Pepper's was closer to the end of WW1 than it is to today.

Have that, you old bastards!

Here's how to feel YOUNG

Been under the weather for the last year or so. Niggly stuff, won't bore you. I'be had to have a load of tests, including blood tests for hormone levels, etc. Some results came back yesterday, and I got a serious lecture from my GP along the lines of "Remember you still need to use contraception". I'm 52 next month.

Try looking after a 15 month grand daughter for three hours...into everything...pulling stuff out of cupboards ,emptying the fireplace ,I was absolutely knackered afterwards,..God knows how Mrs.A manages for a whole day...I certainly felt my age after that...

Arthur C. Clarke really did ruin a couple different years, didn't he?

Anyone up for 2061?

1999 was 20 years ago.
The song 1999 was written in 1982 and a twelve year old me could not comprehend what life would be like when I was that old.

It's amazing to me that even the turn of the century is nearly 20 years ago!

I vividly remember being at school and working out how old I was going to be in the year 2000 and thinking, "oh my god 33 is old..."

When it sounds like I have just broken the mens shotput record, when actually all I did was get out of a low chair.

Ouch, x 2. That song immediately transports me back to my teenage years, working in a nightclub in my seaside resort home town and shagging my way through girl after girl who was impressed that I was a local and worked in the nightclub (??).

That and Golden Brown.

Winston Churchill led our country to a quite incredible victory and saved Europe from Naziism.

David Cameron did fuck all that I remember apart from leaving his kid in a pub and leading the country into a completer and utter mess - before swiftly fucking off.

The only thing John Major did of note was Edwina Curry.

Hardly a comparison.

The first time somebody on a crowded train offers you their seat, is a clue that you are on the way downhill to the grave.

You know what? This what Pooh would call a "Worrying Thing".

So... is EVERYONE on WHO 'old'..? How many folk on here are 35 or less? How many are 50 or less? How many are 60+? 70+? How many new members have joined in the last year?

I'm worried now... is WHO a slowly dying star in the football universe? Are we going to look around in 5 or 10 years time, and find we have barely a dozen people on here? Despite what some say, I doubt hardly anyone on here genuinely commits Whoicide... so are we saying that everyone who 'suddenly' stops posting (or who posts 'less and less' then slides into silence) is either dead (or on the final straight)..?! And how will we know?

I've arranged, amongst many other things, for my son to have my user name and password when I'm gone. That way, he can inform the good folk on WHO that they will not need to put up with my bullshit any longer. He can then decide if he wishes to retire me or take my place.

This will be my 60th year supporting the club. My first game being in January 1959.

I live in hope, as true Irons should but the odds are now that I I will probably die before I see a hammer's shirt lift the premiership trophy.

It doesn't matter. I've enjoyed the experience

To all you youngsters out there …. KEEP THE FAITH !!

Re: How to feel old.
If being in touch is being into Love Island, Game of Thrones and movies about comic book characters while crying about everything that doesn’t go your way and knowing nothing about ANYTHING ‘before I was born’ then I am happily out of touch.

I might have to go and live on a deserted island at some point soon though.

Even if you don't consider yourself super old, kids who were not born for the FA cup final v Liverpool can drive next year (at least where I am from).

Re: How to feel old.
WHO is the equivalent to day time drinking in a dark and dank pub. Everyone else is as pissed as you but then you step outside and it’s only three o’clock in the afternoon. It’s bright sunshine and everyone else is clean sober and going about their normal business. Shopping, pushing buggies, catching up with the latest news and gossip.

Similarly, most of us are old farts on here and we all start to think that this is the way everyone else thinks. We then step out into the real world and find out that everyone else is at least 10 years younger than us and we are out of touch.

Anyway, what I think I am trying to say is that daytime drinking is the best.
